GREENWICH, N.Y. — “We just want to know where he is and that he’s safe,” said Jocelyen McDonald, Jaliek’s Mother.

It’s been nearly four weeks since Jaliek Rainwalker was last seen. His adoptive mother hasn’t talked much to reporters until she opened up to us.

“Right now I just want to get the word out about the reward going out,” said McDonald.

McDonald cautions that the reward will not go up. It will remain at $25,000 until December 31st. On January 1st, it drops to $20,000. That’s why she said she hopes anyone with any information comes forward sooner rather than later.

Search for Jaliek Continues as FBI Gets Involved Weds.

Filed under: Jaliek Rainwalker, Kids, Missing people, News — Kim @ 6:40 pm

There are some new developments in the search for 12-year-old Jaliek Rainwalker, the Washington County boy who was last seen November 1st.

FBI planes and helicotopers are heading up from New York City Wednesday, and will be eyes in the sky for searchers on the ground.

They are tracking the area along the Hudson River, near Greenwich, in hopes of finding any sign of Jaliek.

They will also be searching by area the Battenkill River and the area around it.  That area is located near Jaliek’s grandfather’s house, where the boy was last seen.

Forest Rangers Use Airboats to Search for Jaliek Rainwalker

Jay

New York state forest rangers were on the Battenkill River in Greenwich Saturday continuing their search for Jaliek Rainwalker.

The 12-year-old has been missing for more than three weeks.

Saturday, crews were using airboats to check spots of the river which hadn’t been looked at, other than from a helicopter.

The focus was mostly an inaccessible section of the river below waterfalls with whitewater.

Forest Ranger Mike Bodnar says no specific information led them to the search area, saying that it’s standard procedure to cover all areas in person.

Last week, crews were in Vermont searching Merck Forest where Jaliek’s family went camping.

Sunday, crews will be back on the water in Greenwich double-checking more spots.

If those efforts are unsuccessful the Greenwich Police Chief will decide the next step on Monday.

After battling pneumonia for the past week I’m feeling well enough to post.  I had pneumonia 6 years ago in April, it was the hottest April ever (as far as I know), it was in the 90’s and I had a temp in the 100’s.  This time around I fall ill just in time for Thanksgiving, at least it wasn’t 90 degrees out.  Never again!  Now is the perfect time to get myself back in gear, my body is on empty so it’s time to start eating right.  There’s a new gym opening up 3 minutes from my house so I’m joining.  WOO HOO!!!

Understanding Reactive Attachment Disorder

Filed under: Awareness, Jaliek Rainwalker, Kids, Missing people, News — Kim @ 7:26 pm

Jaliek Rainwalker is still missing.  As each day passes the chances of finding him safe decrease.  Tomorrow a search will be performed in VT, it is said that it is an area where the family camps.  I have also heard that the search around Greenwich will be scaled down, they feel as if it’s been throughly searched.  With this news I’m afraid that people will soon forget, leaving a 12 year old boy out on his own or worse.

Jaliek suffered from Reactive Attachment Disorder.  I am posting some links to bring awareness to this disorder for Jaliek.

Police may turn to media for clues

Authorities set to subpoena stations for interviews with adoptive father of missing boy

By BRIAN NEARING, Staff writer

GREENWICH — With the adoptive father of a missing 12-year-old boy refusing to speak with authorities, State Police are expected to subpoena local television stations to turn over interviews with him.

“We would like to review those tapes,” said Greenwich Police Chief George Bell on Sunday. Stephen Kerr, whose emotionally troubled adopted son, Jaliek Rainwalker, has been missing since Nov. 1, isn’t speaking with officials, Bell said.”I like to think that Jaliek is alive, and someone took him to parts unknown, but I don’t believe that happened,” said Bell. Without elaborating on what police are looking for, he said State Police investigators are expected to deliver subpoenas today for interviews with Kerr and other people connected to the case.

Kerr has not taken a police-requested lie detector test, though his wife, Jocelyn McDonald, has submitted to one.

Kerr was the last person reported to have seen the boy when he left him that evening at an empty home on Hill Street owned by Kerr’s father. The next morning, the boy was missing and a note was left that spoke of not wanting to be a bother to the family.

I’m sick …

UGH and OY!

Last year I managed to escape the usual prolonged winter cold that I get.  Not this year, I’ve been sick for a few days now and I’m sure I won’t completely shake it until spring.  I’m off to the doctor today.  My symptoms …sore throat, chest congestion, body aches.  Could it be MRSA, H5N1, SARS??

Oh, Kim …it’s probably just a cold or strep.

**UPDATE:  I went to the doctor and I have pneumonia :(

Over 2 weeks and still missing

Filed under: Jaliek Rainwalker, Kids, Missing people, News — Kim @ 9:22 pm

Jaliek Rainwalker went missing on Nov 1st 2007.  The weather is getting colder and if he’s out there by himself he has to be cold, hungry, tired and scared.  If anyone in the Capital District passes by my blog, please take time to read the articles I have posted and take a good look at this boy’s face.  I have no personal connection to this boy or anyone who knows him.  Those who know me understand that I follow such cases, call it a hobby, and this one is close to home.

Hunters looking for missing Greenwich boy

GREENWICH, N.Y. – After an intense two week search for Jaliek Rainwalker, police are taking Saturday and Sunday off, but they’re hoping hunters in the area will be on the lookout for him in the woods throughout Washington County.

“Well, they’ll most likely look for clothing or if somebody built a little camp or a hideout or someone trying to get out of the weather. That’s definitely something hunters would notice, especially with all the hype surrounding this thing,” said Greenwich resident and hunter Artie Erbe.

Still missing …Jaliek Rainwalker

Filed under: Jaliek Rainwalker, Kids, Missing people, News — Kim @ 2:25 pm

The following is from today’s Times Union.  This article is sad on many levels.  I hope someone finds Jaliek alive and soon.

Family ties slipping before boy disappeared

Adoption of Jaliek Rainwalker, who had violent outbursts, was to end, say family, cops

GREENWICH — When Jaliek Rainwalker disappeared, his parents had already decided to undo their adoption of him, family and police confirmed Thursday. The last person to see him was his adoptive father, Stephen Kerr, who spent the night alone with him at a relative’s unoccupied home in Greenwich, those close to the case have said.

Rainwalker, 12, was prone to violent outbursts, and his four siblings were afraid of him, said Barbara Reeley, the mother of Jocelyn Kerr, Rainwalker’s adoptive mother. His serious emotional problems caused him to fly into uncontrollable rages in the five years he lived with his adoptive family in Cossayuna, Washington County, Reeley said.

MIDDLE FALLS, N.Y. — A 12-year-old Greenwich boy is still missing, and search teams are out for the second week combing the area for him.

“We just want him to come home safe. We want to see his beautiful smile, and we just want to hear his voice,” said Barbara Reeley, Jaliek Rainwalker’s maternal grandmother.

He hasn’t been seen or heard from since November 1st. Now police are concentrating on the woods and ponds at the Battenkill Country Club.
