Police: Search for Jaliek Rainwalker Over
November 29, 2007 – 3:21PM
Police plan to end their day-to-day search for missing Greenwich boy Jaliek Rainwalker, CBS 6 has learned.
Greenwich police chief George Bell said crews will search one more spot in the Battenkill Friday to follow up on a neighbor’s report of a “square-looking object” floating in the river.
Police have already viewed the area from helicopter, but they will re-examine the area tomorrow by boat. The water is currently too high to execute a search, Bell said.
After tomorrow’s effort, however, unless police receive a credible tip, the planned searches for 12-year-old Rainwalker are over.
Rainwalker has been missing since Nov. 1. His case has held local attention since it was first reported, due in large part to the boy’s troubled history and his complex family background.
**I cannot believe that they are giving up so soon. It’s only been a month, it’s getting colder out, snow is going to start to fall, making it that much more difficult to find Jaliek. Is crime that high in Greenwich that they cannot put a couple of cops on this case to do mini searches here and there?
