SCHUYLERVILLE, N.Y. – For the families of missing people in the region, the discovery of a body sends them on an emotional roller coaster ride.
Jaliek Rainwalker’s grandmother Barbara Reeley said, “I feel like I’ve been hit hard in the stomach and then the dread. Oh my gosh, is it Jaliek? It’s someone’s child? I want it to be Jaliek because I want to find him so badly, but then I hope it’s not because it’s so hard to bear.”
Jaliek’s grandmother Barbara even got a call from Bill Szostak Tuesday morning. He was wondering when Texas EquuSearch would be back to use the side-scan sonar in the river. Just a few hours later, he got the call about his own son. Now Barbara, who has relentlessly searched for her grandson for nearly six months, says on a day like this, she could not just sit home and do nothing.
