Job Update

Filed under: Work — Kim @ 2:51 pm

Some of you know of my daily job struggle (Steve) well there’s finally some good news.  Last week we were told that we won’t be working from home in June and that there was an 18 month extension on our lease.  You’re probably saying to yourself ‘18 months isn’t very long’ and you’re right but we’ve been playing the 6 month at a time renewal game.  Most times we’re not even sure we’ll have a job so this is good, for the next 18 months that is.

With the lease agreement comes a downsizing of space, our portion of the building is getting smaller and smaller.  Currently I have a nice piece of real estate complete with a window.  Now they’re planning on splitting our hallway so people will be shuffled around.  I’ve been here for 10 years, I don’t want to be moved again, nor do I want to lose my window.  My neighbor saw the new seating chart and says as of now we don’t have to move.  WOO HOO!  Perhaps I’ll put up a bird feeder.

On top of that I got promoted today.  It’s been a few months in the making but it finally went through.  Again, some of you know that I am often tempted to leave my job, usually once a year, and just recently I saw a couple of jobs in the paper that interested me.  As of a half hour ago those plans are off, with the promotion came a raise.

Finally, it’s a good work day :D

  2. Thanks Steve! I don’t know how I handle it either. Maybe now that it seems like we won’t be going anywhere for at least 18 months I can relax a bit.

  5. Thank You Deb and Karen! It’s been stressful with a constant threat of a layoff for years. Now I can rest (somewhat) easy for the next year or so.
