Search For Jaliek Disappoints Divers in Battenkill

with one comment

Divers take to the Battenkill, Monday, to search for 12 year old Jaliek
Rainwalker; missing since November 1, 2008.

Monday’s search is just one in a list of many, spurred on by a questionable
image found Friday with a drone plane.
The plane was brought in with the help of the National Rescue and Recovery
group, Texas Equusearch. The drone operator happened to photograph something
suspicious on the bottom of the river. Something that they say resembled a
human body.

“If you look at the photos we took and that of an actual person found in
Texas versus imagines in the battenkill”, said Cambridge-Greenwich Police
Chief George Bell, “the images were the same.”

Monday’s search took two divers a half hour to survey the area..
Once they were able to reach the strange object, they realized the what they
spotted was not Jaliek but rather a huge piece of metal.

Former foster parent, Joy Purdey, told CBS 6m “It’s terrible to want to find
a dead child… I have mixed feelings… Having a child missing is worse
than not knowing.”

The chief tells CBS 6 Texas Equusearch, also known as T-E-S, will hit the
waters again as early as Tuesday with high resolution sonar equipment.
They also tell CBS 6, the same plane used this weekend to search for Jaliek
was also used to search for Joshua Szostak, who went missing in December
from downtown Albany.
